Phishing Campaign Impersonates Ukraine’s Cybersecurity Agency
In a recent alarming incident, the Computer Emergency Response Team of Ukraine (CERT-UA) uncovered a phishing campaign designed to impersonate the agency itself. From March 26 to 27, 2026, hackers sent emails masquerading as CERT-UA, prompting recipients to download a malicious ZIP file containing a remote access trojan known as AGEWHEEZE.
The attack targeted various sectors, including state organizations and financial institutions. Although the campaign reached approximately one million email accounts, the actual impact appears limited, with only a few personal devices reportedly infected.
To protect against such threats, users should verify email addresses, avoid downloading attachments from unknown sources, and maintain updated antivirus software.
