Data Breach at Zara Exposes Customer Information
In a recent cyber incident, hackers infiltrated the databases of Spanish fast-fashion retailer Zara, compromising the data of over 197,000 customers. The breach, linked to a former technology provider, revealed unique email addresses, geographic locations, purchase details, and support ticket information.
While Zara operates more than 1,500 stores globally and is part of the Inditex Group, the company reassured customers that sensitive information, such as names, phone numbers, and payment details, were not accessed. However, the notorious ShinyHunters gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, leaking a substantial archive of data.
The incident underscores the importance of robust cybersecurity measures. Zara has activated its security protocols and is notifying relevant authorities. Customers are advised to monitor their accounts for unusual activity and to change passwords regularly.
