Cybersecurity Alert: DAEMON Tools Lite Users Targeted in Supply Chain Attack

Disc Soft Limited has confirmed a supply chain attack that compromised the free version of DAEMON Tools Lite, affecting users worldwide. The attack involved trojanized installers, which were downloaded by thousands since April 8, allowing hackers to backdoor systems across over 100 countries.

Victims, including organizations from various sectors and home users in countries like Russia, Brazil, and Germany, may have had their systems infiltrated, risking sensitive data. Disc Soft has since released a secure version (12.6), which users are urged to install immediately.

To protect against potential threats, users who installed DAEMON Tools Lite version 12.5.1 should uninstall the software, run a complete system scan, and download the latest version from the official website.

Risk Level: Medium – While the issue has been addressed, users who downloaded the compromised version remain at risk until they take action.
