Trellix Faces Source Code Breach Amid Rising Cyber Threats
Cybersecurity firm Trellix has reported a data breach after hackers accessed part of its source code repository. The company, formed from the merger of McAfee Enterprise and FireEye, serves over 50,000 global business and government clients, safeguarding more than 200 million endpoints.
In a statement, Trellix confirmed it is investigating the incident with outside experts and has notified law enforcement. So far, there is no evidence that the attackers exploited or altered the accessed code.
This breach underscores a worrying trend, as other cybersecurity firms, like Checkmarx and Cisco, have also faced similar incidents this year.
To protect yourself, ensure that your security software is updated and remain vigilant against suspicious communications.
Risk Level: High. Given the nature of the breach and potential implications for clients, vigilance is crucial.
