Instructure Faces Major Data Breach: Millions at Risk

Instructure, a leading educational technology firm known for its Canvas learning management system, has confirmed a significant data breach linked to the ShinyHunters cybercrime gang. The attack exposed the personal information of users from nearly 9,000 institutions worldwide, affecting approximately 275 million individuals, including students and teachers.

The breach, which was disclosed on Friday, revealed that names, email addresses, and student ID numbers were compromised. Fortunately, Instructure has stated that sensitive data such as passwords and financial information were not involved. The company is currently collaborating with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement to investigate the incident.

To mitigate risks, Instructure has implemented security patches and enhanced monitoring. Users are advised to remain vigilant and consider changing their passwords.
