New Phishing Operation Targets Facebook Accounts via Google AppSheet

A recent malware campaign, dubbed AccountDumpling, has emerged, targeting Facebook account owners through deceptive emails. Researchers at Guardio discovered that cybercriminals linked to Vietnam are using Google AppSheet to send phishing emails, tricking users into revealing their credentials. Approximately 30,000 Facebook accounts have been compromised in this operation.

Victims receive urgent emails claiming to be from Meta Support, warning them that their accounts may be deleted unless they act quickly. These messages direct users to fake web pages designed to capture sensitive information.

To protect against this threat, users should verify the sender’s email address, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and enable two-factor authentication on their accounts. Cybersecurity experts rate this incident as High risk given the scale and sophistication of the attack. Awareness and caution are essential to safeguard personal information in today’s digital landscape.
