Vimeo Data Breach: Customer Information Compromised by ShinyHunters
Vimeo has reported a significant data breach linked to the Anodot data anomaly detection company. Unauthorized access has compromised customer email addresses and other technical data, including video titles and metadata.
The notorious hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the attack, threatening to release the stolen information unless a ransom is paid. While Vimeo reassured users that sensitive data such as account credentials and payment information were not affected, the breach still raises concerns for its over 300 million registered users.
As a precaution, Vimeo has disabled all Anodot credentials and removed the service’s integration. The company is working with security experts and law enforcement to investigate the incident.
To protect yourself, ensure your passwords are strong and unique, enable two-factor authentication where possible, and monitor your accounts for suspicious activity.
