New Botnet PowMix Targets Czech Workforce in Malicious Campaign

Cybersecurity experts have raised alarms about a new botnet called PowMix, which has been actively targeting workers in the Czech Republic since December 2025. This sophisticated malware spreads through phishing emails containing malicious ZIP files that initiate a multi-stage infection process.

The PowMix botnet can remotely control infected machines, allowing hackers to execute commands and maintain persistence on compromised systems. It employs tactics to evade detection, such as mimicking legitimate web traffic and using randomized communication intervals.

Affected individuals may face serious security risks, as the botnet can collect sensitive data and potentially lead to further attacks. The campaign is particularly concerning for job seekers, as it uses compliance-themed documents to build trust.

To protect against PowMix, users should be cautious with email attachments, regularly update their software, and use reputable antivirus solutions.
