Basic-Fit Faces Major Data Breach: 1 Million Customers Affected

Dutch fitness giant Basic-Fit has confirmed a significant cybersecurity breach that has impacted approximately one million of its members across Europe. Operating over 1,700 gyms in 12 countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, the company revealed that hackers gained unauthorized access to sensitive customer information.

The breach exposed personal details such as names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and bank account information. However, Basic-Fit clarified that no passwords or identification documents were compromised. The company promptly notified affected individuals and the relevant data protection authorities and stated that the breach was contained within minutes.

Despite their swift response, Basic-Fit emphasized ongoing monitoring with external security experts to ensure no data leaks occur. Customers are advised to stay vigilant and review their financial statements regularly.
