WordPress Users: Protect Against Ransomware Attacks Now!

Google Drive Enhances Security with AI-Powered Ransomware Detection

Google has rolled out an advanced ransomware detection feature for Google Drive, now available by default for all paying users. This new capability, announced in September 2025 and launched globally in October, leverages AI to identify ransomware attacks quickly.

When a ransomware threat is detected, file syncing automatically pauses, alerting users and IT administrators. While files on the infected computer may still be compromised, documents in Google Drive remain secure and can be swiftly restored after the malware is removed.

This feature is designed to protect organizations using Google Workspace, as well as individual users. However, admins can disable it if necessary. Google’s AI model is proving to be 14 times more effective at detecting infections compared to its beta version.

Impact Level: Medium. Users are encouraged to keep their Google Drive updated and remain vigilant against potential ransomware threats.
